A day with us....

OK so last night at dinner my father...a rather protective dad of three girls plus the extras he sometimes claims.....gives a lesson to his family about the economy.

(just for the record he says he can't claim this)

Dad: So, anyone know why the car industry is declining so quickly?

Table of girls: crickets*

Dad: OK, Who knows the two MAIN purposes for cars?

Table of girls: crickets*

Dad: OK- reason 1) Back when women weren't in the work force (accusing look at mom- for no particular reason) boys would drive around in nice cars to pick up girls.

reason 2) And then they would take those nice cars and go parking..with those girls

But when women started working ...boys no longer needed to go parking they could just go home.
So lesson to save the economy grab a guy and go parking.....right.

Cause my Dad would only kill the boy if he found him...

Today after lunch Johnny and I were instructed to clean the kitchen. Johnny immediately starts acted crazy as only she can do...picture the reptile thing she does on facebook slash joker in between....yeah
So, as mom leaves the kitchen I am pleading for her help. From half way up the stairs comes her reply..

"Mary-John, stop being so.....very long pause.....
...freaky.
AH the perfect word.
Don't you love them...I do.

Pants on fire... (and lots of rambling)

yeah, yeah. so I lied about the whole blogging everyday. I failed you. forgive a sista. "LIAAAH!!!!" (like in "Princess Bride"... remember?)

I REALLY want to know if anyone uses "webdings". so.. PLEASE tell me.

I feel like a punk tonight.

I got paint on the carpet from painting a tree house for my best friend...

a tree house box. It really was kind of lame, so don't be impressed.

I really want to play scrabble.

Don't you love it when it rains? Just not when it looks like it's going to rain, without the rain.

Perrier + Lime = :)

Sorry you read my blog posts...really truly.

I think the swine flu commotion is dumb.

People like Elder Obey really make me feel convicted about my pathetic walk with the Lord and service to Him.

God gave us family. Aren't you glad? Last night at my friend's birthday party, I noticed his older sister who got married a year ago, cutting the cake. She looked so natural. So content. And then I scanned the room for her husband. He was watching her too. It made my heart smile. I thought about how many more cakes she would make and cut for their children on each of their birthdays one day. And the precious family they will have, all serving the Lord. He gave us all a place in life. A job. Why do we worry about what degree we're going to get? What school to go to? We already know our job here. I'm so excited about motherhood. I'm glad I have several years to get there, and I am happy waiting, but am so thankful that oneday, I may get the chance to have some little punks of my own, teach them about Christ, and make them many, many birthday cakes.

The tornado siren is going off. We're all gonna die.

Have a peaceful night.

A True Hero

IRENA SENDLER The prize doesn't always go to the most deserving!!! Read on and you'll see why: Irena Sendler A 98 year-old lady named Irena recently died. During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an 'ulterior motive' ... being German, she KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews. Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she carried in the back of her truck a burlap sack, for larger kids. She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers of course wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises. During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 kids/infants. She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms, and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunite the families. Most of course had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed into foster family homes or adopted. Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize ... She was not selected. Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming. LET'S SEND THIS ONE AROUND THE WORLD!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS HER ~ May she rest in Peace
This is a true female HERO story per http://www.snopes.com/politics/war/sendler.asp

Remembering Trash Girl

I made a visit to our M&M blog for the first time in forever, just to check things out, and I found...Trash Girl. :>

I realized it's been two years to the day since trash girl made her appearance helping others.

March 26, 2007

Thanks for your service trash girl!

Ever After-- Since her start helping others with their garbage duties, Trash Girl has gone on to become an icon of trash, nation-wide. Most cities have devoted a holiday to trash, weekly, in honor of Trash Girl, and to show her their deep appreciation.

Thank you, Trash Girl.

Today.

So, A.B. over at Sentencing You to Death has inspired me to post on a daily basis. However, i am only going to try this until next week... (NOT going to set myself up for failure.)

I hereby promise to post Today, Tomorrow, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and finally next Tuesday.

Maybe after that, i'll be so obsessed with blogging i won't be able to stand missing a day! HA!

Oh, and speaking of Sentencing You to Death, I really have to brag on it.

genius.

I am incredibly impressed, and totally in awe of the sheer ingenuity of the basic idea of this blog.

No, I am not sucking up, mind you.

But seriously, how awesome is a blog with a title like "Sentencing You to Death" when the basic purpose of the blog is to add a sentence daily for a month... no matter how ridiculously long...

i love it.

So. Now that I am through promoting, I'll continue to try and give you something worthy of your time.

( I did say try.)

.Today.

I went to the Dentist.
(Best dental experience ever, except for the daunting news for the Wisdom teeth. Yep, the poor little dears have got to go.)

I proved to more of the general public that rain and humidity does not indeed have positive effects on curly hair.

My mother and I shared nearly and hour of conversation devoted to the word "scallywag" and it's synonyms.

Does anyone ever use Webdings?

Mama and I read Eclipse (the third of the Twilight saga) back and forth to each other all day depending on who was driving, and also at Starbucks over coffee. (ok, ok, I know what you may or may not be thinking...I'll touch the "Twilight" subject one day, eventually.)

We went all anti-interstate on the way home from Birmingham. (Not nearly as appealing and spontaneous as it sounds.)

I should be finishing school right now.

I miss all the "college kids."

That pretty much covers today...

I feel like yesterday pretty much got jipped, since I spent yesterday blogging about the yesterday that belonged to yesterday. Tuesday was fine. (It just felt left out.)

Now, since we just got home, I'm off to remove my soaked keds (not a good shoe for the rain) and assemble a tacky purple task chair that i love...
I can do this.

As for you, dear reader, see you tomorrow!

I miss you sisters, come home soon.

Yesterday.

For any of you that had the privilege of being in Alabama yesterday, can you not agree with me that there was something about yesterday that made it possibly the best Monday ever. Nothing spectacular happened. But it was just one of those days. A happy day. Everyone i saw yesterday agreed. ....maybe it was just all the vitamin D and sunflowers... combined with a day of healthy eating. I was in love with yesterday.
We had the most glorious weather.
How could the day not have been spent outside?
.......................
So March is almost over, but it has brought birthdays, anniversaries, trips and work and play. lots of play.
We've been to San Diego:

Elvis and Daddy shared their birthday again. I don't have a picture.

(my sister is 22....................??)

My parents have been married now for 28 years.

love. :)

28 roses,
and this card.
(pun intended)
(My father's rare cheesiness is adorable.
...er...appreciated?)

She turned 16:

what???

loveayums.

Spring Breaks are usually pretty grand. The trip to Atalanta to see the Terracotta soldiers and 3rd Louvre exhibit at the High Museum was wonderful:

...whitney and i did the punk thing on purpose.

...meanwhile my father is on a motorcycle trip....
shhhh....

...And in case you're still reading, (bless you)

then there was yesterday:

So happy beginning to a great week!

Proverbs 21:1

Thursday, January 22, 2009

You might be an Art Student if.....

  • your professor misses a day because of bronchitis and comes back with a blue streak in her hair

  • you spend an entire class cutting up card board boxes

  • tape becomes very important

  • tacking up assignments to the classroom wall is required

  • it is common to walk into the classroom and find the professor standing on the desks adjusting the lights

  • you frequently have to move the furniture around in the classroom

  • sooner or later you are always instructed to not eat your school supplies

  • you start a project by scribbling all over a piece of paper

  • music is frequently played during class

  • homework is commonly collecting "pretty pictures"

  • you are made to stretch in the middle of class

  • you have to wash your hands multiple times during class

  • you come home dirty

  • you learn about common shapes, squares, circles...

  • "cleanup" is a ritual and has to be taught and enforced

  • your professors tend to be a little....shall we say "spacey"

  • your professors frequently use words like, harmony, beautiful, flowing, etc.

  • your professor can get by with wearing a huge rounded snow globe ring with glitter that floats around in it

  • you are asked to place assignments on the floor to look at them

................Or you might just be a kindergartner...............

crap....(oh shh....not supposed to say that word)

I'm so sick crap.
GO AWAY CRAP.
crap. crap. crap. crap.
please do not ground me for this post.

I am SICK of people being so full of bull that they cannot clearly see everyone around them.
People, using their friends as a means to make themselves seem better. More like-able. The world has enough wicked people in it, those of us who share a christian faith should band together not drive a wedge between us by fake cheesy smiles or insincere kind words. We should truly love one another. I was thinking about love this morning, when i woke up. Love. Real. True. Unswerving, Love. Why do we not love more? Doesn't it sicken you how God asks so little of us, and we ask so much of Him. We do so little for Him, yet, he does everything for us. He loves us so much. And how many times do we turn our backs on Him? I would that we could all love him more.
Last night while visiting some very close friends' church, The pastor was reading Psalms 71, and it really struck me. Such beauty in that chapter. Such a need for God. " Be thou my strong habitation..." "O God, be not far from me..." If we only felt that way at all times. Funny, we don't want God near when we know we're doing wrong. Yet we always want him when we need his help. "O God, be not far from me..." At all times.
Because I have oodles of experience in marriage, i was thinking, when a husband leaves a wife for a while, doesn't she yearn for him? And is there not a more sad sight than to see a couple in which one spouse so attentively aids her ...(did i say "her" this is supposed to be generic :D ) husband , (tehe) and he basically ignores her. He doesn't seem to miss her, he doesn't seem to care.
hmm....so it sickens me all the more, when we ignore our husband. "Be not far from me"
Shouldn't we have a burning desire for him to be close to us?
hahahaha...i crack myself up....we should have a burnin' yearnin' HAHA. laugh. you know you want to.
So...back to the whole "lovin' one another" thing... Another thing i've been thinking about alot lately, in Matthew it tells us to go to our brother when he offends us. But go to him, and him alone. We hardly EVER go to our friend when they offend us! why??? The bible tells us to! And if we do, we've almost ALWAYS gone and talked to someone about it first. "oh girl, did you SEE her!" "Did you hear wha she ha said to me??? "Instead, we have a "better" alternative. Gossip. We gossip continually! Even in our hearts. We tell ourselves terrible things about our friends in hopes that our pathetic selves will seem better. ugh. We are all so full of CRAP.

So God, please be near us always, help us to love each other truly, even just a breath, of that with which you love us, and help us to not be full of crap.

Florida Court Sets Atheist Holy Day \

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAYI
In Florida, an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter andPassover holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case againstChristians, Jews and observances of their holy days.
The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognizeddays. The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionatepresentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Casedismissed!"
The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas,Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet myclient and all other atheists have no such holidays."
The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you d o. Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant." The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."
The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day.Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.'Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is noGod, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court isadjourned.
You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture! This is too good not to forward.
